Five tips to optimise your glamping rental season

Camping traditionally takes place during peak season when the days are longer and warmer. However, with glamping, increasing numbers of campsites are opening outside the peak season to optimise their revenue stream. Read our useful tips that could help to make the most of your rental season.

Tip 1: A growing need for rest and freedom
Consumers lead increasingly hectic lives. They need to take time out to recharge their batteries and have a break – and not just during the summer. Across Europe, people are choosing to take holidays outside peak season. In the Netherlands, for example, a number of campsites are extending their rental season. Consumers want to get away from it all, regardless of the weather. Glamping offers cosy accommodation in a peaceful setting, where consumers can escape from work and the pressures of everyday life. Think about offering a safari tent with bathroom, for example.

Tip 2: Get ready for short stays
One of the biggest trends in travel and tourism is the rise of short breaks. Instead of one long holiday, people are taking two or three shorter ones and often closer to home. In 2018, for example, 5% more Dutch people chose a “staycation” than in 2017. You can make use of this data and optimise your glamping rental season by offering weekend or short midweek breaks outside peak season.

Tip 3: Ways to draw in guests
To increase your bookings, offer a lower rental rate during the off-peak season or perhaps offer three nights for the price of two. Many people love getting out into the countryside during autumn, so make sure your accommodation is warm and cosy, wind and draft-free. And dress your safari tents in style with decorations, candles and extra blankets. You can also think about adding a fire pit.

Tip 4: Distinguish yourself to optimise your rental season
When you are looking to buy glamping tents and start a glamping site, think about your Unique Selling Points (USPs). Is your site is in a beautiful natural setting? Are you close to the city or a local attraction? Make the most of what you have and make sure that this information is on your website and your marketing material, so you can reach your target audience.

Tip 5: Added extras that make the difference
Let’s be honest. Nobody wants to camp if they are cold, so make sure you offer adequate heating – we can advise you on safe options. We can also supply an extra inner tent for your accommodation, which has an insulating effect. Covering your glamping tents with a green winter cover is an option when you are closed during the winter months. It’s not necessary, but it will give your accommodation extra protection against harsh winter weather.
